| DesignaKnit Concept
Differences from DesignaKnit Professional
All features which are not present in DesignaKnit Concept are removed
completely rather than just being greyed out.
A. No Standard Garment Styling or Original Pattern Drafting.
Instead of these shaping sections there will be a selection of standard
size garment files. Standard garments with straight (drop shoulder),
Raglan, or set-in sleeves will each be available in a range of standard
sizes.
11 standard sizes of child
11 standard sizes of adult female
8 standard sizes of adult male
(30 standard sizes in all)
3 sleeve types times 30 sizes=90 shape files in all. All garments will
have casual ease, V-neck at front and round neck at back. There are no
Babies' sizes, and no saddle sleeves.
It will be possible to open only these 90 shape files. Other files,
whether made in Standard Garment Style or Original Pattern Drafting,
cannot be used.
B. There will be no DesignaKnit Graphics
Studio, and no ability to convert a graphic file into a stitch pattern.
C. Only colour patterns, and not stitch type
patterns, are supported. In order to design garter stitch patterns, users
will have to use different colours to represent different stitch types. In
Method of Knitting, Right and Wrong facing textures, and Hand Knitting,
have been removed. There is no Roosmalen stitch type font on the Concept
Setup disk, and it will not be possible to upgrade to the Lace Tool (
unless also upgrading to Standard or Professional).
D. The list of knitting machines has been
reduced to:
SK830
SK840/550/560/580
SK840 etc +AG50 carriage
SK860
SK890
The Template and Advanced buttons in the Knitting Machine Setup dialogue
have been removed. The default knitting machine is SK840/550/560/580.
E. The Help File will be the same as for the
full program. When a Help topic is selected, the following message first
appears:
"DesignaKnit Concept uses the same Help file as DesignaKnit Professional.
Please be aware that it contains help for features which are not present
in DesignaKnit Concept. See the manual for the list of extra features
which are in the Professional version."
A tick box offers: "Don't show this window again"
F. The copy protection has been simplified in
order to make support easier. Instead of the existing system of
installable
lives, the Concept program will run only if a new model Silverlink 2 is
attached.
All serial ports (1to9) are searched.
If a cable is not attached, the following message appears in a dialogue
with "OK" and "Cancel" options.
"Please attach the SilverLink 2 cable to a serial port on the computer"
Cancel exits the program; OK searches again for the Silverlink.
When the cable has been found, and DesignaKnit Concept starts running, the
knitting machines are automatically configured to use the serial port at
which the cable was found.
The Concept Setup disk and Program disk are both freely copyable and will
be distributed with write protect tabs open ( protecting the disks against
erasure). There will be no installable lives on the Concept Setup dis.
G. When the Concept starts running, the
opening screen shows.
